We are an independent film and commercial production company established in 2007 in Sofia, Bulgaria. Being challenged is what we like. The untrodden paths are the ones we take. We do not fear risk. On the contrary – it ignites and inspires us even more.
Director, Producer and writer Kamen Kalev graduated from La Fémis, Paris, in 2002. His debut feature film Eastern Plays (2009) was selected for the 41st Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes and was acclaimed by critics and audiences from Paris to Tokyo as an honest, beautiful and rarely truthful film. It brought Kamen Kalev the Best Director award of the 22nd Tokyo International Film Festival and the Grand Prix du Jury of the 22nd Angers Festival, among many others. His much anticipated sophomore film – twisted and triply drama The Island (2011, starring Thure Lindhardt and laetitia Casta) – came as shock, splitting viewers and critics into heated love -it-or-hate-it disputes, and establishing Kamen Kalev as a daring young filmmaker pushing his own boundaries to the point of no return. His latest effort My Dear Night (2014) – the opening short of The Bridges of Sarajevo omnibus ( Official Selection of the Cannes Film Festival 2014) – put his name among the ranks of Jean-Luc Godard, Sergei Loznitsa, Ursula Meier. His third feature is currently in post-production.
Producer Elitza Katzarska joined Kamen Kalev at the post-production stage of Eastern Plays and has been firmly behind his back ever since. She is Producer of two Waterfront Film features currently under way and Executive Producer of Kalev’s The Island. She’s also a veteran on the European commercial productions scene with a portfolio of more than 250 local and international commercials and TV series.
Filip Todorov has a relentless drive for scouting new creatives and fresh projects. He was Executive Producer of Kamen Kalev’s short for the omnibus film Bridges of Sarajevo.
